duff roses

last post of the day, i promise: i figured out Duff’s roses today, while pre-doing all the fondant work for my husband and his sister’s birthday cakes (their birthday is next Sunday). it’s really quite easy. roll your fondant out fairly thin. cut out 3 circles using a circular cutter.

overlap them on top of each other. start rolling them up.

cut them in half. fan out the petals.

supposedly you can do this with 5 fondant circles, too, but when i tried it, it looked poopy. perhaps i’ll try again someday for bigger roses, but these are pretty cute as is. by the way, ignore my mess, back there. ahem.
