our Thanksgiving meal:
apple pie, brown sugar-walnut topped pumpkin pie (from Bon Appetit’s Thanksgiving issue), and regular pumpkin pie
the star: turkey roasted on a bed of aromatics with thyme and parsley herb butter rubbed under and on top of the skin
brussels sprouts sauteed with shallot and bacon
Erik’s mashed red potatoes with roasted garlic, sour cream, and chives
Pioneer Woman’s rosemary butter rolls — these were SO FREAKING GOOD I ATE 4. you have to make these. like now. go ahead, i’ll wait …
cranberry sauce (by the way, my friend Son had the BRILLIANT idea of putting this on ice cream. why haven’t i ever thought of that? Brilliant, I tell you.)
also on the menu was dressing (yuck), erik’s sweet potatoes, and my mom’s noodles. so very, very yum.
